"Walk as much as you would like without shoes."
Dr. Mary Carlson started Shoes for All a non-profit 501 (c) (3) in September 2010 with her first shoe drive at a local street fair. The tremendous community support and experience proved that there was an overwhelming need for this type of outreach service.
In addition to helping homeless families and children in need, Shoes for All has been supporting the Veterans Stand Down Program for the past three years. Last year we donated 150 pairs of new slippers to our Veterans. We will be supporting Veterans Stand Down again this year with two events; one being held in July in Hempstead and the other in November in Freeport. We would like to be able to present new shoes to our Veterans at these events. There are no resources available to our Veterans that supply shoes.
A staggering statistic is that 55% of the homeless are our Veterans and 1.5 million Veterans are living in poverty. We owe our Veterans so much for the sacrifices they have made.
Please help us reach our goal.
OUR WALK GOAL IS $5,000
All proceeds from this year’s walk will be used directly to purchase new footwear for our local VETERANS.
Please consider a $20 Donation, it will be enough to purchase a Veteran a Brand New Pair of Shoes!
One Day Without Shoes is the annual day when we take off our shoes to raise global awareness for children’s health and education.
Start a conversation for change by going without shoes and sharing what you’re doing, outside or online.
This Is About More Than Shoes
Children lacking access to education and good health struggle to break the poverty cycle for themselves, their families and their communities.
With the complex issues surrounding poverty, there is not one solution, but many working together.
We believe that shoes play an important role in helping keep children healthy, educated and moving toward opportunities for a better future.
